Assisted suicide would jeopardize people with disabilties

2. Communicate your own position about this issue in a thoughtful response.

  1. I believe that assisted suicide is a viable option for some - not all. Heavy restrictions should be used for this subject. Depending on the severity, people who are on their death beds, in huge amounts of pain, should be able to decide they don't want to face it anymore. Also from looking at the families point of view, I feel like it would be better to let someone go peacefully instead of seeing a loved one waste away to nothing~

  2. We believe that this can be helpful in extreme circumstances. Assisted suicide can take many people out of their suffering. However, its the easy way out. It may end someone life that actually could have lived a much longer fuller life, but because everyone gave up on them they will not have the opportunity to do so. We think that a lot of people will take advantage of this being legalized because they think it is easier and there is no hope left for them. ~ Kaley T. & Emma V.

  3. We think that assisted suicide should be available when a person has a problem or disease that is too hard on them and they don't want to live with it, they should be able to make the choice if they live or not. Other people shouldn't interfere with the decision.-Jessa J and Chelsea T.

  4. i for one think that this issue can cause as much problems as the illness itself to the family or even the person in that position. thinking about leaving this world behind or having your loved one leave you can be very traumatizing. some would rather have them stay alive or fight to have more time but all in all if it is terminal the right choice to me would be to say myn goodbyes and meet my end befor i cause any more stress or pain on anyone else. -Dustin Thuber

  5. I think that, should someone be in a large amount of pain and suffer, and at their death bed without any hope of recovery, then they should be able to chose. However, I feel like there needs to be a lot of restrictions and guidelines, so that people whom can get better, can have that chance, instead of just giving up do to others giving up on them.

  6. I think the only problem with assisted suicide is choice. the choice to end your life with some sense of dignity intact the choice to escape unbearable pain the pain of forcing your family to watch as you start to forget everything even your own name. assisted suicide offers a chance for people in that kind of situation a way out and as long as that's their choice i don't see the problem. but that raises the question as the essay mentioned what about the disabled who potentially have the choice made for them. that to changes from case to case not all disabled be feel the same as other people living with the same disability and even then there are diffrent levels of affect within each disabbilty and to a certain extent i could see how assisted suicide could be a viable choice. so in conclusion i support assisted suicide on the grounds that is is the subject in questions choice or the mother or fathers choice.

  7. I personally don't think it is our right to decide when to end our own lives. Murder is a crime and that is exactly what euthanasia is. You are not saving one's life, you are taking it. I completely understand that people in this world are suffering everyday, it's called life, it wasn't supposed to be easy but we are only here for a short time. I believe that when it is our time to go, it will happen. There are always going to be hurdles that we are going to have to jump over. There are better things to come in the future because no pain and suffering lasts forever. We as human beings, do not have the right to commit suicide, or help someone do it. - KG

  8. I believe that people with a disability should have the choice to live or not. If the disability is making their life so miserable and they feel their only way out is suicide they should be given the choice, it's their life and they should make their own choice and not have someone make if for them.

  9. Somebody choosing to end their own life is one thing, but somebody else should not have any right in making that decision. I believe in assisted suicide when the person is functional enough to make that decision for them-self, but when they are not functional enough to make the decision, nobody else has the right to end their life for them.

  10. as was said in the essay, assisted suicde ceates an imballance in power between the doctor and the paitents, createing a second guess at what you doctor has said so far. assisted suicide also deprives people of their chance to possibly get better or enjoy their las few moments. when people want to die they can do something canned do not resussitate. wich means let them die at their oun time, and not at someoneelses leisure.

  11. In my opinion Assisted suicides has a double standard it is good to allow citizens the rights to die, when in so much pain they can't bear it anymore or a family member is suffering but, on the other hand it is not a choice that should be made if it involves someone that is disabled or someone who can get treatment to get better and it shouldn't be a option if the person can't speak for them self and can recover if given the time, it should not be the choice of the doctor to say or not say they should do a assisted suicide in any situation because that is the the definition of a doctor/ medical they are the people try to give the care they need to get better not the choice to take a life., I believe that assisted suicides should be only allowed if it is the last resort and the everyone in the persons family believe it is the right choice of action.

  12. I believe everyone has the right to a good quality life. Everybody is in charge of their own lives and nobody has a right to prevent them from living the way they want. If you are in constant pain and want to put an end to it, and you can fully communicate that you want to do so, you should be entitled to assisted suicide. You should be in complete control of your life, and end it if you so choose when you think is a good time. Without that right it is just illegal and immoral. -Amanda L. W.
